KANAPU’s products are friendly to people who have special dietary requirements such as food allergen-free, gluten-free, vegan and others. Food allergy is an autoimmune response of the body to an allergen present in food after ingestion. The symptoms of food allergy range from mild discomfort to life-threatening reactions. There are 10 common food allergens which include peanuts, tree nuts, milk, eggs, sesame seeds, fish, shellfish, soy, lupin and wheat. Hemp seeds are not in the list of these common allergens.

Hemp seeds are a plant protein source that are gaining popularity, especially after the legalisation of hemp seed as food in many countries in last decade. As an emerging food materials, the information about hemp allergenicity is limited. To date, there is no confirmed food allergic case reported as a result of hemp seed consumption, although was one potential allergenic protein identified in hemp seeds through proteomic analysis.
